We will soon be heading into the Fall season. Regular classes will soon resume: some changes are planned, all to expand and improve the excellent choices we offer. See class schedules.We plan some great gallery shows as usual for the remainder of the year. We look to many of you for our success. Consider showing your work, especially if you have not done so yet this year. As always we need your help. The operations of OSA depend on volunteers. Our various committee chairs will be seeking members to help accomplish their tasks. Please consider what you can do and be available.

Thursday, August 8 - Doors open at 10:00am,meeting at 11:00am. Guest artist Gene Gill will demonstrate his approach to painting of shadows to unify a composition. His painting was chosen as "Best in Show" at the recent WSO show.NIGHT MEETING:
Thursday, August 15- Doors open at 5:30 pm.Demo at 6:30 pm. A short business meeting will be held at 8:30 following the critique. (This is a change from the usual format. Please plan to stay for the meeting. It is important.)Guest Artist: Gay Liebert, a ceramic artist uses the raku technique of firing her pieces to achieve wonderful texture and colors. She has a portable kiln which will be fired up at 5:30 so she can do her demonstration.
DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES:
All levels. Call instructors for fees and information.Betty Heinson's portrait class will resume on Wednesday September 18. She will encourage artists to include more of the figure. All media accepted. Class will have more demonstrations. Betty is seeking models who will pose for two to three weeks. Call 503-760-2740.
All other classes will resume in September. OSA is fortunate to have such accomplished instructors.
Rudy Stevens will be teaching a watercolor workshop at the Milwaukie Senior Center Sept 20, 27, Oct 4, 11,18, and Nov. 1. emphasizing composition, value and color. Contact Rudy at 503-636-4189.
THE CRITIQUE GROUP:
Meets prior to the Thursday night meeting. Everyone invited. Active and associate members: bring one to three paintings and participate or just come to watch, listen, learn, and enjoy.GALLERY EXHIBITS:
Open 1 pm to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. No admission fee.OSA's annual Black and White show, any medium, any subject, will open with an artists' reception on Sunday August 4 and close on Friday, September 6. The Show will include the following artists: Jan Ames, Julia Brown, Vicki Cole, Virginia Grubb, Mary Hartzheim, Janet Holt, Michael Kelly, Steve Kleier, Chris Raish, Terry Street, Betty Van Bemmel.
COMING UP IN THE GALLERY:
"Amazing Oils". Any subject oils only, opens Sunday September 8 and closes Friday, October 4. A sign-up is posted on the studio/classroom bulletin board. Featured artists for the month is Aloha Cannon.October Show, any subject, any medium, will open on Sunday October 6 and close on Friday, November 1. A sign-up sheet is posted. ANNUAL OUTDOOR SALE IS COMING UP
OSA's Outdoor Sale will take place Saturday, August 24, 10am to 3pm. Open to all members, you must set up your area and sell your own art. Framed, shrink wrapped and loose painting, prints, cards, photography are all okay (two dimensional only, a sign-up sheet is posted on the studio bulletin board). Questions call Jack Miller, 503-697-9646."THE SEVENTY-FIVE CLUB"
In order to raise $50,000 to maintain and improve the OSA building and grounds "The Seventy-Five Club" will launch a campaign to recruit all current and former members to make a contribution or pledge of $75 or more during this Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Year. Each member of the club will receive a certificate, a lapel pin, and their names will be included in a large donor plaque displayed at OSA. This campaign received unanimous approval by the Board, at the April 11 meeting.20th Annual Rose Art Show - Winners and thanks

Many thanks to the 2002 Rose Art Show Committee for all their hard work in organizing this show and the opening reception: Kathleen Scoggin, Nikki Dilbeck, Maud Durland, Linda Fitzgerald, Mary Holderness and Sue Kingzett. A special thanks to Paul Scoggin and John Holderness for their technical support and to Phil Jarvis for providing music during the reception.
