Presidents Message:
The “special meeting” of the O.S.A. is over, the ballots have been counted and the society has
now moved into the 21st century.
The official vote count was as follows:
1) Revision of the Articles of Incorporation For: 96 Against: 2
2) Revision of the Bylaws
For: 96 Against: 2
3) Transfer of $35,000 from recent stock sale to a reserve for building maintenance & improvements
For: 96 Against: 0
I, again, thank the Bylaws committee chaired by Billie Orehovec with Jack Miller, Aloha Cannon and Stan Hartman; and the Finance committee chaired by Brian Bolten with Richard Porter,
Jean Blatner and Kris Prestan.
All of these members put in many hours of work to make the revisions which are now a reality.
We will now focus on making needed repairs to the roof and the lighting in the classroom space;
as well as some improvements to the office space in the classroom area under the guidance of the
Building committee chaired by Stan Hartman. I, also, want to thank all the members that voted
for without your votes and support none of this would have appened.

ART NEWS
Past President, July’s Featured Artist, Receives Plaque:
Jack Miller was the Featured Artist at our July gallery show. On Sunday, July 11, at the show's opening, he was presented with a plaque in honor of his years of service to OSA as President in 2002 and 2003. A large crowd of the membership, family and friends assembled while Billie Orehovec, current Vice President, delivered these remarks: "On behalf of the Officers, Board of Directors and
Membership of the Oregon Society of Artists, we would like to present you with this plaque to express our undying gratitude for many, many services selflessly rendered. Under your watch as President, great things were
accomplished. Most notably, the 75 Club was initiated. This development vehicle served to commemorate the 75 years that OSA has been in existence, and remains as a building improve= ment fund. Your years as President were marked by collaboration, cooperation, consistency, caring and cunning. Those of you who have served on a committee with Jack will know that he is crafty in his Tom
Sawyer-like ability to get things accomplished for the organization. You were the kinder, gentler President,
Jack. Congratulations, and thank you!"Help to promote OSA in your neighborhood:
We are looking for your help to promote both OSA’s regular Art Classes and our monthly Gallery Shows. Please consider where you might post or place our flyers to increase knowledge & involvement in OSA. Everyone needs a little art in their lives. Help to enrich your community and support OSA by sharing the
word. The full color flyers and a sign-up sheet, as we want to tract distribution, are available in the gallery.
