PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:
As we approach the summer season, we see many changes in our daily and weekly routines. Classes close for about three months. We travel abroad or within our own country, to the beach or to the mountains. But let us not set aside our art experience until fall.

Consider this a time of opportunity. If you don't care to paint, use your sketchbook or your camera. There is beauty out there: capture it!

Also, our day and night meetings and critique groups continue. The gallery is open for business as usual. Some sketch groups are planned for the classroom studio and there are workshops offered. I wish you success and artistic fulfillment, however you spend your summer. Jack Miller, President, 503-697-9646

DAY MEETING:
Thursday, June 13 - Doors open at 10:00am,meeting at 11:00am. Sue Jensen will be demonstrating techniques of painting by using the negative space to get to the positive image.

NIGHT MEETING:
Thursday,June 20 - Meeting at 8:00 pm - Doors open at 6:00 pm. Matt Warford is an oil painter who specializes in portraits and will demonstrate his approach.

THE CRITIQUE GROUP:
6:30PM prior to the Thursday night meeting. Everyone invited. Active and associate members: bring one to three paintings and participate or just come to watch, listen, learn, and enjoy.

GALLERY EXHIBITS:
Open 1 pm to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. No admission fee.

Juror, Chris Keylock Williams, has graciously donated an original watercolor to the Rose Art show raffle. The painting will be on view at OSA. Raffle tickets will cost $2 each or 3 tickets for $5. Tickets will be on sale at the Artists' Reception, June 2, and possibly prior to that. The winning ticket will be drawn at the conclusion of the Artists' Reception (winner need not be present at time of drawing).

Look for the beautiful 20th Annual Rose Art Show poster, featuring the 2001 Peoples' Choice award winner, at area merchants. And, mark your calendars for these important dates May 22 & 23- artwork submitted to Rose Art Show, May 23 - entries juried, June 2 - 1-4PM Artists' Reception at OSA. See you there!

COMING UP IN THE GALLERY:
The July show will be open to all members, Active and Associate. Any subject, any medium. Show will open with an artists' reception 1-4PM on Sunday, June 30 and close Friday, August 2. Bring artwork to the gallery on Saturday, June 29. A sign-up sheet is now posted on the studio bulletin board. Questions? - Call Jane Sayler 503-452-9366.

Our annual Black and White Show opens Sunday, August 4 and closes Friday, September 6. Any medium, any subject. A sign-up sheet is now available.

ATTENTION ASSOCIATE MEMBERS:
The July show will include you along with active members. This is the first year we have done this. The July show opens June 30, any subject, any medium. Here is your opportunity to show some of your paintings in the OSA gallery.

"THE SEVENTY-FIVE CLUB"In order to raise $50,000 to maintain and improve the OSA building and grounds "The Seventy-Five Club" will launch a campaign to recruit all current and former members to make a contribution or pledge of $75 or more during this Seventy-Fifth Anniversary Year. Each member of the club will receive a certificate, a lapel pin, and their names will be included in a large donor plaque displayed at OSA. This campaign received unanimous approval by the Board, at the April 11 meeting.
