Presidents Message:
I want to thank the members for the questionnaires which have been returned to us. Your input has helped the Board to set goals, short term and long term, for the society. Our “retreat” was held at OSA on April 17th. The Finance and Bylaws committees have been working many hours since February and their reports
were presented to the Board at its meeting on April 8th. The Finance Committee was chaired by Brian Bolton with Richard Porter, Jean Blatner and Kris Preslan as members. Their report recom-mended: 1) appointment of a permanent finance committee; 2) to have an annual audit by a separate committee to be appointed by the President each year; 3) to adopt and implement
a budget for OSA each year; 4) to make revisions to the Bylaws to recognize these changes. The Board adopted this report. The Bylaws Committee was chaired by Billie Orehovec with Jack Miller, Stan Hartman and Aloha Cannon as members. They reviewed our Articles of incor-orporation and suggested changes be made in Articles III, VII, IX and X. The Bylaws were also reviewed and changes were recommended within: Article II in sections 2, 3, 6b, c, d, & 7; Article III in section 1; Article IV in section 1 (deleted); Article VIII section 1; Article X sections 3,
6, 7, & 9; and in Article XII section 1. All of these revisions were accepted and approved by the Board. The text of the proposed changes will be made
available to all members who make contact and request
a copy. A special meeting of the Society will be called in July of
this year on the 15th day at 8 p.m. for you the members
to adopt these changes or to reject them. As stewards of OSA and its facilities, I’m asking each
you to send in your $75.00 to become a member of the 75-Club which honored our 75th nniversary in 2001. Funds will be used for the immediately needed and
ongoing maintenance of our building and grounds.
Rudy Stevens,
President

Our day meeting hostess, Jean Hodges,
retired last month. She says she enjoyed
making coffee, setting up the snack table
and cleaning up the kitchen after the
meetings. Jean has been an OSA hostess
for 10 years! Jean would often furnish
cookies out of her own pocket for the
members' enjoyment. Jean no longer
paints but was once a watercolor painter
who liked to do floral, landscapes and
children in action.
