Painting Expressive Landscapes and Seascapes with Eric Jacobsen

Thursday / Friday October 24 & 25
9am - 4pm $195
All levels welcome

Join Washington artist Eric Jacobsen for a fun and informative two day workshop. Eric is nationally known for his plein air oil landscapes and seascapes. He’ll show you how to organize and simplify subjects to make the key decisions for a successful painting. Whether you’re a beginning or experienced painter in acrylics or oils Eric will encourage you to express yourself and create a strong personal statement with your work. There will be demonstrations, critiques and informal discussions, with plenty of individual attention. And if the weather holds, Eric might even do a plein air demo! Visit obsenstudio.com to see more of Eric’s work.

To register for this workshop please contact the OSA office, 503-228-0706.
Space is limited to 15 students, so please register early.

One-Day Workshops

Corrine Loomis-Dietz, Seductive Surfaces & Persuasive
Palettes - Acrylic Paints and Mediums

Friday July 12, 10am - 3:30pm OSA upstairs studio $95
This two-in-one workshop covers both grounds for painting and color theory. Take acrylic painting to a new level as you explore the relationship of paint on a selection of Golden's most seductive surfaces. Examine the absorbency and lift of hues, from the gritty to the most gracious of
grounds. We will wet our brushes in three very different color palettes to experience the richest of color interactions.
Corrine introduces the mineral, modern and historical hues in exercises developed to clarify the characteristics of pigments, enabling you to get the most out of the palette you paint with. Join in this physical act of painting as you focus on your personal style and develop new ways of
seeing surface and color.

Rene Eisenbart, Garden/Travel Journaling Workshop

Sunday July 21, 10am – 4pm $95
Make an accordion journal to celebrate your garden, record ideas for paintings, or store treasured memories. Rene will offer an overview of tools and techniques for drawing, painting and collage. Then it's "hands on" as you design and illustrate your pages. Combine drawings with poetry, found objects or thoughts. Create your own unique artistic expression using color, texture, and raw emotion. An attitude of playfulness is required; prior art experience is not needed. Watercolor paper (190lb) and other materials are included. If you don't have paint supplies, Rene will be glad to provide them – just let her know. 503-890-9668, rene.art@gmail.com, or rene-art.com.
