About the Oregon Society of Artists
OSA was founded in 1926 by a group of dedicated artists who banded together to support each other in the study of the visual arts. Our founders were some of the most illustrious artists of Portland. They worked to establish a society to foster mutual respect for one another and their art.
Meetings and Artist Demonstrations
General meetings for all members are held twice a month. The First Thursday evening meeting is an informal critique session at 6 pm and a demonstration at 7 pm, proceeded by brief general society announcements. The Second Thursday daytime meeting is a demonstration at 11 am, light luncheon at 12, and Board of Directors meeting at 1 pm.
BrushMarks, OSA's newsletter, is published each month and is available in printed form and online. Special events and activities are held throughout the year and will be posted in the newsletter and on the website.
OSA offers many Classes and Workshops for artists of all skill and experience levels using a variety of media. OSA Classes and Workshops offer professional instruction by notable regional, national, and international talent.
As an Associate Member you will be invited to exhibit your artwork several times a year. Please see Artist Entry Fees and Framing Rules on the Gallery page of our website before you enter the shows.
We greatly appreciate our many generous and talented volunteers who keep our not-for-profit, self-supporting organization alive and well. We are proud to own our facility free and clear, thanks to the generosity and hard work of OSA members since 1927. Individual Members, Committees and our Board of Directors keep the organization running smoothly. There are many opportunities for you to contribute your talents and expand your skills as a volunteer -- just ask at a meeting or in the office how you can help.
Officers, Board of Directors, Committees
A complete list of current OSA Officers, Board Members, and Committee Chairs can be found in the BrushMarks, and on the Board of Directors page. Please feel free to contact them if you need information, have suggestions or wish to offer your help.
