OSA Exhibit July 8 - 31

Calligraphy Show - "Text and Texture"

Take In: Thursday, July 5, 10am - 3pm and Friday, July 6, 10am - 1pm

Reception: Sunday, July 8, 1 - 3pm 

Pick Up Art: Wednesday, August 1, 1 - 4pm

A non-juried group exhibit in collaboration with Portland Society for Calligraphy, open to OSA members, PSC members and PSC affiliates. In addition to traditional calligraphy, works may include artists' interpretation of ideas which can include text or calligraphic line and design.
$25 entry for up to 3 paintings.  $15 for high-school  students.

Frames must have “D” rings and tight wires on back. Work accepted up to 48” however, plexiglass must be used in artwork larger than 30” in any dimension.
For this show only: Previously framed art will be accepted that does not match OSA requirements, and colored matts will be accepted.

International Chinese Calligraphy and Ink Painting Society, North America Branch

Contemporary and traditional Asian scrolls of calligraphy and ink painting by 33 artists from 11 countries, curated by Casey Shannon, Director of North America Branch

Artists' Entry Fees:

OSA does not take commission fees for selling artists' work.
Download the required OSA Release Form to submit with your artwork

Non-juried shows: $25 for 1 to 3 paintings
Non-juried art shows accept all media: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Photography, Pastel, Digital Media, Glass Fused, Encastic Painting

Spring ( March)  and Fall (September) Juried shows: $25 for 1 painting, $30 for 2 paintings No photography accepted  (Members Only)

Rose Festival (June) Juried show: No photography accepted in juried shows
     OSA Members: $25 for the first entry, $10 for the second entry (Open to the Public)
     Nonmembers: $35 for the first entry, $10 for the second entry

Framing Rules:

PLEASE NOTE: Please take care that your entries meet all specifications. Entries not meeting these specifications will not be accepted.

Framing Guidelines for NON-JURIED SHOWS:

  • Paintings must be framed to OSA standards and ready to hang
  • All frame styles are acceptable
  • Frames must have hanging wire secured with D-ring style hangers. No other hanging system will be accepted
  • Unframed "gallery wrapped" canvases must have:
    • Sides painted, NO raw canvas showing
    • NO staples showing
    • MINIMUM DEPTH – 1 ½ inches
  • NO screw eyes – NO saw tooth hangers
  • Taut wire must be attached to the frame not the painting
  • Color mats are acceptable/Dark mats are acceptable
  • MAXIMUM framed dimension – 48 inches – on any side
  • MINIMUM framed dimension – 11 inches – on any side
    • Exception to 11 inch minimum: When one dimension is shorter than 11"…Any 2 conjoining sides that total 22 inches are acceptable, example, a canvas measuring 8"x 16" = 24"
  • Entries larger than 22" x 28" – outside dimension – MUST be Plexiglas – No scratches
  • Glass and mats must be clean and free from lint/hair/spots, etc.
  • Collages: 75% of the work must be original to the artist

 

 

 

 

Framing Guidelines for JURIED SHOWS: 

  • All work must be original to the artist 
  • No class work is accepted 
  • No wet paint 
  • Paintings must be framed to OSA standards and ready to hang 
  • Unframed "gallery wrapped" canvases must have:

    •   NO staples showing
    •   MINIMUM DEPTH – 1 ½ inches 
  • Plain, simple frames complete with hanging wire secured with D-ring style hangers

  • NO ornate frames accepted 
  • Taut wire must be attached to the frame not the painting 
  • Outside mat – white or off white ONLY – NO dark mats 
  • Inner mat liner – Color is acceptable – NO larger than ¼ inch 
  • MAXIMUM framed dimension – 48 inches – on any side 
  • MINIMUM framed dimension – 11 inches – on any side
